John Paul Hartwig
02.02.45 - 07.30.19

The PLPOA salutes friend and former board member, John Hartwig. John served on the PLPOA Board for many years. The various leadership roles that he volunteered & served were Counsel to the Board, Director and President. Some of John’s work included; meetings with the Township to explore ways to protect Pine Lake; improvements for the Pine Lake weir; he wrote the “History of PLPOA”, a booklet available HERE.
John was instrumental in the creation of the “Lake Management Plan” and the list of his accomplishments could go on and on and on. In short, John was a beacon of knowledge, a boundless resource as Council to the Board, pillar of strength and diligent in his dedication and love for the PLPOA mission.

John, suddenly passed away on a quiet afternoon in July and although our hearts are broken, we are committed to carrying out the mission and his dream of keeping Pine Lake the best it can be through education, research and community involvement. Rest in peace dear friend. July 2019.

In John’s honor, the PLPOA Board renamed the Pine Lake Weir to the “Hartwig Weir”. A plaque has been installed as a reminder of John’s continual dedication to strategizing innovative and research driven methods, to keep Pine Lake the best it can be.
